Such small details make the preserve distinctive and turn it into a lovely gift.
How to design labels
Nowadays, you don't need to be a graphic designer to create beautiful labels. You can also make eye-catching designs yourself using online design tools. One of the most popular and user-friendly of these is Canva.
Canva is well-suited for anyone who has never had any design experience, as it offers a wide selection of design templates. Among these, you'll find hundreds of label and tag designs that can be easily customised to your preferences.
Read the appropriate design template. Type "for example" into the Canva search bar label or Label for a jar. Then you will see various design templates to choose your favourite from.
Prepare the text. You can alter the texts added to the design template with a few clicks according to your own preference – select the text box, type a new word or text, and the design is adapted. In addition to the message, you can also change the font and text size.
Download the artwork. When the label is ready, you can download it as an image file or a PDF. This file is suitable for printing adhesive labels.

How to order sticker labels
Once the design for the preserve label is ready, the next step is to order the sticker labels. In our ordering environment, this process is simple and quick.
Choose a suitable material and finish. Choosing the label material is the first step. The most commonly used material for labels is standard film, which is durable and can withstand both cold and moisture. With standard film, you can choose whether you want to use a glossy or matte finish. Glossy film makes colours appear bright and clear, while matte film gives the label an elegant and luxurious appearance.
Transparent film is also very suitable as a labelling material for bottles and jars. Such a label leaves a clean and minimalist impression, as the contents of the jar are partly visible through the label, creating the impression that the design has been printed directly onto the glass.
As a transparent label lacks the usual white background, it is worth considering some simple design principles to ensure that the label's design and text still stand out:
- When choosing the text colour, consider the colour of the contents of the jar and select a shade that stands out well against the background.
- Avoid thin lettering and complicated fonts.
- Liiga keeruline.
If the design is well thought out, a transparent label on a jar gives a very elegant look.
Choose shape and format. Next, you need to decide what shape of label you want. The most common are oval and rectangular labels, but it is also possible to make completely custom-shaped labels.
You can also choose whether to print multiple labels on one sheet or order each label on its own backing paper. As the labels are used for marking bottles and jars at home, the most cost-effective and convenient option is to order them on a single sheet, from which they can be easily detached one by one and stuck onto jars.
Determine the dimensions and quantity. The label size depends on the size of the jar. The most common measurements for different sized jars are as follows:
- Small jars (100–200 ml) – 60 x 40 mm
- Medium-sized jars (200–350 ml) – 80 x 50 mm
- Larger jars (500 ml and more) – 90 x 60 mm
An excessively large label will look disproportionate on the jar, while one that is too small, conversely, will not be easily visible. If in doubt, it is worth trying a couple of different sizes on paper before placing an order, cutting them out and placing them on the jar. This way, it will be immediately apparent which size is visually the most suitable.

Before printing, the designer checks the design to ensure the image is of sufficient quality, the text is sharp, and all elements are clearly visible. This step helps to prevent the label from turning out completely differently to how you wanted it.
Fast production and delivery. Once the order is confirmed and the design is approved, the labels will go to print. Sticker labels are usually ready within 1-2 working days and are then sent to your chosen parcel locker. And then you can decorate your preserving jars with brand new, professional-looking labels.
